How Our Clothes Swap Works
What Our Swappers Ask
If you wear clothes, you can find something to suit you at a swap! Swapping or swishing attracts all sizes, ages and tastes so it's not hard to find new-to-you items to add to your wardrobe. It's also a straightforward and fun process. If you are a first time swapper with us read on to find out how our clothes swaps work.
What Can I Swap?
We only accept women's clothes at this time but we are happy to accept clothes, shoes, hats, gloves, scarves and belts. For hygiene reasons we can only accept lingerie and swimwear that is unworn and still has the label attached. Your items don't have to be perfect - a missing button is ok - as long as it is something that is easy to repair. We are not going to grade your clothes – all labels are welcome! - but we will let you know if any of your items are not suitable for the Swap.
How Does The Clothes Swap Drop Off Work?
When you arrive at the Swap we'll count your items and give you a Swap Card. You'll get a stamp on the card for each item that you bring. A suit will get you two stamps because the jacket and skirt/trousers may be taken by different people but shoes and gloves get one stamp because they'll obviously be swapped as a pair. You can drop your items off up to an hour before the Swap opens, collect your card and return later if you have other things to do and you don't want to carry your items around with you.
How Does the Clothes Swap Check Out Work?
Once you've found some items that you love – just take them to the desk and we'll check the items off your Swap Card. (Many of our venues also have a place where you can try them on if you wish). If you want to check out and return later to check the items again, we are happy for you to do this with no extra charge. Just show your Swap Card on your return.
What If I Don't Use All My Swap Stamps?
If you don't use all your stamps, you can save these and use them along with your new card at the next swap.
What If I Can't Get To the Clothes Swap At The Start Time?
There's no rush! We bring a large stock of items with us and the amount of items can't go down during the swap because no one can take more than they have brought. The items on offer will change as Swappers arrive and leave so you may want to pop in more than once during the Swap.
How Much Does The Swap Cost?
We charge £5 per person and you can bring up to 15 items. You can buy a ticket in advance at no extra cost or pay at the desk when you arrive.
How Do I Pay?
You can pay in advance by clicking the button next to the Swap on the Upcoming Swaps page and simply bring the payment confirmation with you on the day. You can also pay in cash at the beginning of the swap when you check in with your items.
Can I Bring My Children Or My Dog To A Swap?
We are happy for you to bring children at no charge. We also allow dogs if this is allowed. This depends on the rules for the each venue so check this for each Swap.
Can I Bring Clothes Back To The Next Swap If I Change My Mind?
Of course! One of the joys of swapping is that we can try out clothes that we might not have considered before without risk. But if the item isn't for you then just count it as one of your items for the next swap.
